116 Squadron of the Israeli Air Force, also known as The Lions of the South Squadron (former Flying Wing, and Defenders of the South Squadron), is an F-16A/B fighter squadron based at Nevatim Airbase.[1]

In 2015 it was announced that the second F-35 Squadron in the IAF will be the "Lions of the South".[citation needed]
