Two-time defending champion Billie Jean King defeated Judy Tegart 9–7, 7–5, to win the women's singles tennis title at the 1968 Wimbledon Championships. This was King's second Grand Slam title of the year and her fifth overall. The draw for the women's singles competition consisted of 96 players of whom eight were seeded.^[1]
