    •  Serbia defeated  Italy, 13–12, to win their fifth FINA Junior Water Polo World Championships title. These wins include the 1989, 2003, and 2005 world championships, when it was part of the unified  Yugoslavia and  Serbia and Montenegro.  Hungary took the bronze medal.
