† 2022 SEC Tournament winner As of March 17, 2022; Rankings from AP Poll |
The 2021–22 LSU Tigers basketball team represent Louisiana State University during the 2021–22 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The team's head coach is Will Wade, in his fifth (and final) season at LSU. They play their home games at the Pete Maravich Assembly Center in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, as a member of the Southeastern Conference. On March 12, Wade was fired over charges of violations of NCAA recruitment rules during his tenure at LSU.
Previous season[]
The Tigers finished the season 19–10, 11–6 in SEC play to finish in third place. They defeated Ole Miss and Arkansas in the quarterfinals and semifinals of the SEC Tournament to advance to the championship game where they lost to Alabama. They received an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament as an 8th seed in the East Region, where they defeated St. Bonaventure in the first round before losing to Michigan in the second round.
