The 25th World Scout Jamboree is a planned World Scout Jamboree that is scheduled to be held in 2023 in South Korea. World Scout Jamborees are only for 14-18 year old Scouts and Explorer Scouts except for volunteering IST (International Service Team).

The two candidate countries for the 2023 World Jamboree were Poland[1] and South Korea.[2] The World Organization of the Scout Movement was to have selected the host country in 2014 at the 40th World Scout Conference in Ljubljana, Slovenia, however this was postponed past the 23rd World Scout Jamboree, where both contingents still made bids.[3]

On 16 August 2017, during the 41st World Scout Conference in Baku, Azerbaijan, the World Organization of the Scout Movement announced that the 25th World Scout Jamboree would be held in South Korea.[4]

Both the ZHP (Polish Scouting and Guiding Association) and the Korea Scout Association launched bids to host the 25th World Scout Jamboree.

The ZHP's proposed theme was "Be the Spark".[5] They received support from the city of Gdańsk to host the jamboree there and Mayor Paweł Adamowicz wrote an article for the Huffington Post about why Gdańsk was the ideal host city.[6][7]

The Korea Scout Association was seeking to host the jamboree to celebrate their centenary, which takes place in 2022.[8] The proposed location for the jamboree is Saemangeum. Their theme was "Draw Your Dream".[9]

European Scout Jamboree 2020[]

In response, Scouts from almost 30 European countries requested the Polish Scouting Association to consider organizing European Jamboree 2020, which would have taken place in Gdańsk, Poland, in 2020. In April 2020, the Jamboree was postponed, and rescheduled to take place instead in August 2021 due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.[10] In November 2020 the Jamboree Executive Team and Jamboree Planning Team made the decision to cancel the Jamboree in 2021.[11] The decision came after registered participant numbers dropped below the minimum needed of 10,000 as well as more COVID-19 related risks. The result of this meant it was not financially viable for the Jamboree to go ahead and ultimately led to the full cancellation.
