AA Insurance is an independently operated, New Zealand-based joint venture between the New Zealand Automobile Association (NZAA) and Suncorp Group. The company offers home, contents, car insurance and life insurance through its subsidiary AA life.

Launched in 1994, the company underwrites its own policies and sells direct to New Zealanders.[1] The company employs over 650 staff and has nearly 350,000 customers with over 700,000 policies.[1]

AA Insurances supports New Zealand youth charity Blue Light,[2] partners with Eden Park,[3] and has been recognised by: Reader’s Digest Most Trusted Brands (since 2011),[2] NZ Insurance Industry Awards (since 2012),[2] IBM Kenexa Best Workplaces Survey (since 2008),[2] Blue Most Satisfied Customers (2011-2016), and the Colmar Brunton Corporate Reputation Index (since 2015) that recognises New Zealand's most successful companies.[4]

AA Insurance has an A+ (Strong) Insurer Financial Strength Rating given by Standard and Poor's (Australia) Pty Ltd.

They currently employ the Song "Born Free", in their advertising campaigns, in concert with ordinary people doing things that might or might not cause damage, the idea being, that because they have insurance, they can "live a little freer".
