Abdelkader Ould Abderrahmane, known as Abderrahmane Kaki, (born on February 18, 1934) in Mostaganem and (died on February 14, 1995) in Oran, is an Algerian actor, playwright, author and director of twenty plays.

Early life[]

Abderrahmane Kaki was born in Mostaganem in the popular neighborhood of Tidjitt. From his childhood he developed in contact with strong cultural traditions. One of his grandmothers knows from memory a large number of kacidate[1](stories), one of his uncles is a music lover. He participates in popular festivals in which the meddahs[2](storyteller), rubs shoulders with the Bedouin songs master Cheikh Hamada whose children are his playmates.

During the first decade of Algerian independence, he appeared to be the most active and prominent creator in the field of theaters until a car accident in 1968 stopped his ascent.
