Adel Fadel Abbas Tamano is a Filipino educator, lawyer and former politician. He is currently serving as the Vice President for Public Affairs and Communications of Coca-Cola FEMSA Philippines, and the Vice President for Corporate Affairs of Udenna Corporation. Tamano also served as a spokesperson for United Opposition during the 2007 Philippine general election and was part of its senatorial lineup in the 2010 national elections.

Early life and career[]

Born on October 2, 1970 in Lanao del Sur in Mindanao island of the Philippines. He was the eighth child of the late Senator Mamintal Tamano and civic leader Hadja Putri Zorayda Abbas Tamano.

He obtained his degree in A.B. Economics in March 1992, and earned his Juris Doctor degree from the Ateneo de Manila University.

Tamano obtained his Masters in Public Administration from the University of the Philippines in 2003, and Master of Laws, with Honors, from the Harvard Law School in Cambridge, Massachusetts in 2005.

Since 2004, Tamano has been a partner at the Kapunan Tamano Javier & Associates Law Firm. He also had stints as an associate at the Estelito P. Mendoza & Associates law firm from 1999 to 2004, and at the Castillo Laman Tan Pantaleon & San Jose Law Offices from 1996 to 1997.

Academic career[]

He has served as the Dean of the College of Law of Liceo de Cagayan University in Cagayan de Oro since 2011 and as University President of the Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila from 2007 to 2009.

He was also president of the Association of Local Colleges and Universities from 2007 to 2009, and is a member of the Integrated Bar of the Philippines and is a trustee of the Harvard Law Alumni Association.

Media[]

Alongside his illustrious legal career, Tamano also became a media personality—a legal analyst, columnist, TV personality, and a host of his own program, Tamano Perspective, on ANC, one of the leading news cable channels in the Philippines.

Personal life[]

He is the son of former vice governor of Lanao del Sur and senator Mamintal A.J. Tamano. He is married to lawyer Rowena Kapunan and is a devoted father to sons Santi and Mike.
