Adhisty Zara Sundari Kusumawardhani (born 21 June 2003), known professionally as Adhisty Zara, is an Indonesian singer, performer, and actress.

She emerged as a member of the Indonesian-Japanese idol group JKT48 in 2016, under the name Zara JKT48, along with her elder sister, Hasyakyla Utami Kusumawardhani.

The second of four siblings, she is the third generation descendant of Indonesian religious vocal group Bimbo, whose members are brothers and sister; one of the personnel, Raden Darmawan Dajat Hardjakusumah aka Acil, is her direct grandfather.[1] She graduated from the group on 4 December 2019.[2]

Career[]

2016–18: Beginnings and JKT48[]

Adhisty Zara entered the showbiz industry after she was introduced as a member of JKT48's 5th generation on June 21, 2003 at the age of 13.[3] According to Zara, a staf approached and offered her to try for the audition when she was eating ice cream in front of her school.[4] After getting selected, she traveled between Bandung and Jakarta to balance her school and the group's activity,[5] before relocating permanently to Jakarta along with her older sister, Hasyakyla,[6] who also joined JKT48 and both were home-schooled.[7]

After chosen to be a part of JKT48's 15th single "Luar Biasa" and featured on the group's fifth anniversary poster, she quickly gained recognition amongst the fandom, despite the critism she got. On April 22, 2017, she was elected and ranked 23th on JKT48's 4th General Election, placing her on Undergirls and sang the song "Sedikit Saja I Love You" along with other 31 members. She also had an appareance in Dilan 1990 as Dilan's sister, Disa.

2019–present[]

She began gaining public's attention after the release of Keluarga Cemara in January, which led her getting and winning her first and second nomination at 7th Maya Awards and 13th Indonesian Movie Actors Awards.[8] The movie also became the country's ninth most-watched box-movie that year.[9]

On February 2019, it was announced she's set to star in a new movie, Dua Garis Biru, in the leading role.[10] Despite negative feedbacks from public (mainly adults) who critisized the sex-education movie for “promoting free sex” to teenagers after the trailer's release,[11] the movie was a box-office success and critically acclaimed for its writing and acting. It gained almost three million watchers within a month after its release on July 11 and became the third most-watched Indonesian box-movie that year, driving Zara into large public recognition.[12]

Zara announced that she's leaving JKT48 to focus on her education and acting career on August 2019.[13] She had her graduation concert on November 30,[14] 2019 and officially left the group on December 6 after performing for the last time in the group's theater. [15]

Later that August, along with other Indonesian top-tier actresses and actors, she joined the Bumilangit Cinematic Universe, similar to Marvel's MCU, as Virgo and set to have her own movie, Patriot Taruna: Virgo and The Sparklings.[16] On October 2019, She was cast in the leading role of Acha in the wattpad-adapted movie, Mariposa.[17] The movie was released on March 2020 to mixed reviews and gained 500.000 watchers in just a week, before pandemic hits and theaters were closed.[18]
