Al Jazeera Urdu (Arabic: الجزيرة أردو, Urdu: الجزیرہ اردو) was a 24-hour news channel announced by Al Jazeera in 2006.[1] It would have been an Urdu language version catering mainly to India, offered as part of the Zee Entertainment Enterprises.

The new Urdu service will be launched and distributed by Aljazeera Channel and ARY Digital Network via cable, DTH, SMATV, and all other means that can reach residential and commercial consumers not only in Pakistan but around the world. The station will broadcast hourly news bulletins, breaking news, exclusive programmes, and interviews in Urdu, as well as other Urdu-dubbed programming.[1][2]

In 2006, ARY Digital, the first private Urdu channel, has reached a deal with Qatar-based Al Jazeera TV to create Al Jazeera Urdu International, which will broadcast in Pakistan, the UAE, and other Gulf nations, as well as India, the UK, Europe, and the United States.[3]
