Alexander Albistegi Revilla (born 1 July 1987) is a Spanish footballer who plays for Burgos CF Promesas as a central midfielder.

Club career[]

Real Sociedad[]

Born in Eibar, Gipuzkoa, Basque Country, Albistegi finished his youth career with local SD Eibar, making his senior debut with the reserves in the 2004–05 season, in Tercera División. After appearing with the first team in Segunda División B he joined Real Sociedad in 2007, being initially assigned to the B-side also of the third division.

On 19 June 2010, Albistegi made his professional debut with the Txuri-urdin, playing the last 24 minutes in a 1–4 away loss against Elche CF for the Segunda División.[1] He returned to the third level only two months later, signing on loan with former club Eibar.[2]

Later years[]

Albistegi terminated his contract with Real Sociedad in August 2011,[3] joining UD Logroñés during that month.[4] He continued to compete in division three in the following years, representing Real Unión,[5] CD Toledo[6] and Lleida Esportiu.[7]

On 14 July 2016, Albistegi signed for CF Reus Deportiu, newly promoted to the second tier.[8] The following 28 June, he agreed to a two-year contract with CD Mirandés in the third division.[9]

Personal life[]

Three of Albistegi's family members were also professional footballers:[10] his grandfather Alberto Albístegui Arizmendiarrieta featured in the top flight for Real Sociedad and CA Osasuna,[11] his father Germán had links to their hometown club SD Eibar and his paternal uncle Alberto Albístegi Zamacola played for Real Sociedad and Deportivo Alavés among others.[12]
