Alexandria Asiana

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Alexandria Asiana was a city in Iran, one of the twenty-plus cities founded or renamed by Alexander the Great.[1]

This city is probably located at Eskandari-ye Baraftab and Nesar-e Eskandari in "Dehestān-e Eskandari" (English: "Alexandrian Rural District") today. What reinforces this assumption is the existence of a so-called road "Masir-e Eskandari" (English: "The path of Alexander") connected to these two villages along the river "Palāsjān", and a mountain called "Kūh-e Dārābshāh" (English: "Mountain of King Darius") in the north of this location. Most likely, this route was the passage of Alexander the Great during the chase of Darius III, from Pasargadae to Ecbatana.
