MeaningGerman origin meaning "noble" as a Latinate form of Aline, a Germanic contraction of Adelina (little noble one), which is diminutive form of Adelaide. Thought by some to be of Slavic origin meaning "bright, beautiful." Others believe in its Greek origins, meaning "light" or "truth" as a variation of Helen.

Alina is a female given name of European origin.[1] It is particularly common in Northern, Central and Eastern Europe. It may be derived from the name Adelina.[2] Alina was one of the top 10 most popular names in Switzerland[3] and one of the top 50 most popular names in Finland,[4] Norway,[5] Germany[6] and Austria[7] in 2020.
