American University of Barbados
The American University of Barbados (AUB), founded in 2011, is a private medical school located at Wildey, Barbados.[1] It is the first offshore[definition needed] private medical school in Barbados.[2] The medical school has its main campus is in Wildey, Barbados.[3][4][5]
History[]
The medical school was founded in 2011 and started operations at Silver Sands.[6] In 2016, the AUB has acquired the former BET building[7] and moved its operations there.[8]
Recognitions and accreditations[]
- AUB is accredited by the Caribbean Accreditation Authority for Education in Medicine and other Health Professions, a registered body that accredits Caribbean medical schools[9][10] and ensures that the quality of medical education provided in the Caribbean medical schools is at par with the List of medical schools in the United States.
- AUB has received Institutional Accreditation by the Barbados Accreditation Council.[11]
- AUB is recognized by the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates[12] and this grants students the right to take the licentiate exam, United States Medical Licensing Examination to become a practicing physician in the United States.
