The ancestors of Lord Ram are described below according to Vishnu Purana and Valmiki Ramayana. The famous personalities of Suryavansha as per Vishnu Purana, Valmiki Ramayana, Ramakatha Rasavahini, Bhagavata Purana and Raghuvansha Charitram are Ikshvaku, Vikushi, Kakusta, etc. The city of Kosala and Ayodhya was founded by Manu (earliest Prajapathi) and by his son Ikshvaku whose descendant was Ram.
