Teodora Rumenova Andreeva (Bulgarian: Теодора Руменова Андреева; born January 23, 1987), better known by her stage name Andrea (Bulgarian: Андреа), is a Bulgarian pop-folk singer.^[1] She and the Romanian singer Costi Ioniță performed together and released music as Sahara.^[2] In 2013, BBC and Payam Forghani described her as a "pop-folk superstar".^[3]

Biography[]

Andreeva was born in Sofia. She took music lessons at an early age from her aunt who was an opera singer in the Vraca Opera.^[4] During her teenage years she entered and won several beauty pageants (Miss Sofia, Miss Tourism Bulgaria).^{[citation needed]}

After graduating high school, she signed with Bulgarian record label Payner Music.^{[citation needed]}

In 2008, Andrea met Costi Ioniță and together they produced the track "Само Мой". During the next year, they created the duo Sahara^[5] Their next hit song Tyalee was released in 2009 and featured the artist Lenox Brown.^[6] The song was released worldwide and known abroad by the name "Tyalee", Избирам Теб in Bulgaria.^[7] The English version of the song was produced by Cat Music and soon after Serdar Ortac made a Turkish version with the band Sahara.^{[citation needed]}
