Anima Roy is a Bangladeshi academic[2] and Rabindra Sangeet singer.[3] As of 2014, she has been serving as a professor in the Music and Drama Department of Jagannath University.[4]

Early life[]

Roy learned music from Debasish Chakrabarty, Sadhon Chandra Barman and Surbani Lalitakala Academy. Then she was trained under Waheedul Haq, Sanjida Khatun and Mita Haque.[5] She completed a Rabindra Sangeet course from Chhayanaut.[4]

Career[]

Roy is currently Assistant Professor at the Department of Music of Jagannath University;[6] previously she was a faculty at the Drama Department of the University of Dhaka. She has released six albums of Tagore songs. Her fifth album was named Robir Alo - it included contributions by Indian singer Prothush Banerjee.[4]

Awards[]

Anima was awarded Best Rabindra Sangeet Singer at 12th Channel i Music Awards for her 6th album Matribhumi.[7]
