Anna Agnér

Anna Naemie (Na) Gabriella Agnér (1896 - 1977) was a Swedish visual artist. She was known for her still lifes, portraits, and landscapes.

Early life and education[]

Anna Agnér was born on October 3, 1896, in Hulterstad, Öland. She was the daughter of the elementary school teacher and organist Bror Johansson, and his wife Sigrid Pettersson. Anna Agnér had one sister and three brothers. Her eldest brother died in infancy. She conducted artistic studies for Gottfrid Larsson and Otte Sköld in Stockholm. In 1929, during her study trips to Italy and France, she attended the Académie Scandinave Maison Watteau, which was run by Swedish, Norwegian, and Danish artists. She participated in group exhibitions in Rättvik, Kristianstad, and at Liljevalch's autumn salon.

Career[]

In 1938, the 300th anniversary of the Swedish colony in Delaware was celebrated with, among other things, an art exhibition in which Anna Agnér participated. She is represented at a museum in Ulricehamn.

Personal life[]

In 1918, Anna Agnér married the merchant Bror Hilbert Thorell, and together they had a son Ulf, born in 1929. The couple divorced and Anna Agnér was married for the second time in 1931 to Gunnar Agnér.[1][2][3] Anna Agnér died in 1977 at the age of 81.
