Anshika Sharma (Nepali: अंशिका शर्मा) (born July 11, 1996) is a Nepali-Australian beauty pageant titleholder who was crowned as Miss Universe Nepal 2020. She represented Nepal at Miss Universe 2020. She worked as a sales analyst and was the first runner-up at Miss Nepal Oceania 2020.[1]

Life and career[]

Early life[]

Anshika Sharma was born in Jhapa and raised in the capital city of Kathmandu by her parents Balkrishna and Mala Sharma. She is a sales analyst, dancer and also traveller who loves meeting new people and visiting places from around the world, and she has an interest in photography. After her high school education in Kathmandu, she moved to Sydney, Australia for her university education. She successfully achieved her bachelor's degree in informational technology from Central Queensland University and she managed to finance her own education. After that, she worked as a sales / business analyst for DHL.[2]

Pageantry[]

On 14 March 2020, Anshika entered at a major regional pageant the Miss Nepal Oceania 2020 pageant. She was Candidate #4 in the competition. Anshika was first runner-up at the pageant and was awarded the subtitle of Miss Popular Choice during the coronation night held at the Orion Function Centre in Sydney. She competed again in Miss Universe Nepal 2020 where she successfully won the first ever Miss Universe Nepal pageant. In an interview she revealed that whatever title she was given, she said that representing Nepal in such an international platform is, in a true sense, a moment of pride. During Miss Universe Nepal 2020, she won the subtitle of Miss Fierce. Her social advocacy is about her organisation "Anshika Education Welfare Foundation" which supports children in their education, because she believes that education is the only way to get ahead and make someone's life bright. She represented Nepal at Miss Universe 2020 in Hollywood, Florida but did not place much of the surprise of the public since she was one of the most favourite delegates to win the crown of Miss Universe 2020.[3]

Charity Work[]

Anshika is a founder of a non-profit organization Anshika Education Welfare Foundation (AEWF) that supports the underprivilege children from minority group and orphanages in rural communities of Nepal. The foundation provides support in school fees, clothes, curricular materials, nutritious food, accommodation, travel, medicinal support for girls’ health-related issues, and other primary requirements to access quality education.
