The Appleton School is a secondary school and sixth form with academy status located in Croft Road, Benfleet, Essex, England. It currently accommodates 1,600 students from school years 7 to 13, and roughly 100 teachers including the headteacher Sarah Cox who has been the head since September 2021 and was previously the deputy head.


History-

The school opened in 1965 having been built since 1962. The first headteacher of the school was mr Edward Haines from its opening until his retirement in 1974. Since then there have been three others.

The school was rated “outstanding“ by government school inspection agency Ofsted although this was downgraded to “good” in 2019
