Apurva Purohit (born 3 October 1966) is a writer from India. She was earlier the CEO & President of Radio City.

Biography[]

Early life and education[]

Apurva has a Bachelor’s degree in Science (Physics) from Stella Maris College, Chennai and completed her masters in business administration from Indian Institute of Management Bangalore.[2] She was a state-level field hockey player and represented Tamil Nadu in the sport.

Career[]

She is an independent director at Mindtree,[3] Manipal Health Enterprises Ltd and L&T Engineering services.[4] She is currently on the board of L&T Technology Services.[5] She is an advisor to private equity fund Amicus Capital and BD Foundation.[6]

Career highlights[]

  • Apurva is credited with the listing of Radio City (Indian radio station) on the stock exchange in 2017.
  • In the past, Apurva was associated with BCCL & Zee Telefilms, where she launched of TV brands Zoom TV and envisioning Times of India’s entry strategy into television and engineered the re-launch strategy for Zee TV.
  • She also launched Lodestar in INDIA.[7]
  • Apurva has been a leading voice in the Indian business landscape, advocating gender diversity, what ails it, and what organizations and leaders can do to improve this critical imperative. She is also the author of the two books “Lady, You’re not a Man” – the Adventures of a Woman at Work[8] and Lady, You’re the Boss![9]

She has been ranked as one of the Top 30 Most Powerful Women in Business as per Business Today in 2016, 2018[10] and 2019.[11] She was featured in Fortune India's Most Powerful Women in Business list 2018,[12] 2019[13] and 2020.[14]

Personal life[]

Apurva is married to Sanjay Purohit and has a son Siddharth Purohit. She lives in Mumbai. She is an avid sports follower and represented Tamil Nadu in hockey in 1984–1987.[17]
