Asif Raza Mir (Urdu: آصف رضا میر) is a Canadian-Pakistani film actor who started his acting career at the age of 17. He has acted in a number of popular films, including Miss Hongkong, 'Daaman, Wafaa, Playboy, Badalte Mausam and Saathi alongside various cinema stars. He has also been part of in several famous TV series such as Darwaza, Samudar, Tanhaiyaan, Tansen, Choti Choti Baatein, Roshni and Ishq Gumshuda.[1] Asif Raza Mir's international debut was in the British series Gangs Of London. He is a series regular on this project. [2][3]

Family[]

Asif Raza Mir's is the son of popular film director Raza Mir (d. 2002) who was also the cinematographer for the first ever Pakistani film, Teri Yaad (1948).[4]

He lives with his wife Samra Mir between Canada and Pakistan

His son Ahad Raza Mir is one of the leading actors in the South Asian entertainment industry.

His younger son Adnan Raza Mir is studying to be a filmmaker.

Career[]

Asif Raza Mir has acted in award winning films and TV series during his career. His most popular performance on television, which came in Tanhaiyaan, was one of the reasons for his early success. His role in Samundar is also still remembered. He also acted in an Eid play, titled Choti Choti Baatein. His role in the period play Tansen opposite Zeba Bakhtiar was also appreciated by the audiences and the critics alike. He also acted opposite Roohi Bano in Darwaza and his performance is remembered to this day. He appeared in the last episode of Anwar Maqsood's famous serial Aangan Terha.

He took a brief hiatus from media when his sons were studying in Canada in the 1990s, but he returned to the screens again in 2007.

Asif Raza Mir has since then acted in various popular TV serials. He also forayed into production and has produced hit shows in the recent times.

Asif Raza Mir's international debut was in the British series Gangs Of London. The crime-drama produced by Sky AtlanticGangs of London — was released on 23 April 2020 and has broken UK TV viewing records. It brought in 2.23 million viewers for its pilot episode alone, making it Sky Atlantic’s second-biggest drama launch of all time, after Chernobyl and as of May 2021 it is also the channel’s second-most binge-watched show. Asif Raza Mir plays the role of Asif Afridi in this series.
