Aunn Zara (Urdu: عون زارا‎) is a Pakistan drama series telecast on A-Plus Entertainment. It revolves around a married couple spoilt by their respective families and are desperate to escape this attention. It is based on Faiza Iftikhar's novel, Hisaar-e-Mohabbat (Fort of Love) and is directed by Haissam Hussain.[1] It stars Maya Ali and Osman Khalid Butt.[2][3]

Episodes 1–2[]

Story involves around lives of Aunn and Zara. Aunn is the only male in his family. As a result, he is overtly pampered by everyone in his family. Zara is the only daughter in her family whose father Jamshed, is a retired army officer. Jamshed wants her to join the air force, while she wants to have a family life never having had a complete family of her own. Zara is the only woman in her family with father and paternal grandfather.

Aunn attends a wedding with his friend where he meets Zara, who insults him in front of everyone. Aunn's aunt Nighat finds a photo of Aunn with Zara in his room. Aunn expresses his wish to marry thinking this will give him some space from his over indulgent family. The family thinks he wants to marry Zara. As a result, they go to Zara's home with marriage proposal. Zara lies to her father that she loves Aunn, even though she has not even seen who the proposal is from, hoping to lead a family life after marriage.[4]

Episode 3–5[]

Jamshed decides to accepts Aunn to be his son-in-law. When Aunn and Zara find out who they are marrying they resist, but eventually marry. Jamshed arrives to fulfill a wedding custom where the newly married couple has to spend two days in the bride's home. Dadi and Nighat oppose this, but Husna convinces them to let Aunn go. Zara's father takes them to his home, and it is decided that they would return after their walima (reception).[5]

Episode 6–9[]

Aunn decides to take Zara out to see a movie. Husna agrees on the condition that Zara drive the car. Sensing that Aunn is angry at this, Zara allows Aunn to drive the car. However, they get into an accident where Zara is hurt. She lies to everyone telling them that she was driving the car. Aunn apologizes to Zara.[6]

Episode 10–12[]

Aunn and Zara are invited to spend a couple of nights in the village where Aunn and Zara finally get closer to each other. Jamshed apologizes to Nighat for his behaviour, who asks that he take her shopping. Nighat forgets her shopping bags in his car which Jamshed returns. Zara sees them together and asks Nighat about it. Nighat sees Aunn in a restaurant with another woman, and thinks that he is having an affair. Aunn's friend Manzar loves Zara's friend Shehna. He asks Aunn to convince Shehna to marry him. Aunn invites her to a restaurant to talk about Manzar's proposal. Nighat, Aunn's grand mother and mother accost them at the restaurant where they start hitting both of them.

Episode 13–17[]

Aunn tries to clear the misunderstanding between him and his family about Shehna. Zara tells Husna about Nighat and her father's growing friendship. Aunn realizes he still does not get any space from his family or time to spend with Zara. He creates misunderstandings between Zara and his family so that he and Zara can spend more time. Soon a rift are created between Zara and Aunn's family, as result of which Aunn and Zara shift to another house. Zara is under the impression that they have been kicked out while Aunn's family thinks that it was Zara's idea to move out. Zara learns that she is pregnant. Manzar proposes to Shehna but she rejects the proposal on the pretext that Manzar's family could do the same thing to her as Aunn's family did to Zara. Manzar decides to tell her the truth. Nighat visits Zara where Zara is alone by herself. She asks Zara the reason for leaving the house, but Zara accuses her for making them feel unwanted. Shehna sees them together and tells them what Manzar told her. They decide to teach Aunn a lesson.

Episode 18–19[]

Zara tells Aunn that they should live with her father. When Aunn suggests living with his family instead, Zara refuses because his family does not want to be with her of their attitude towards her. Next day Aunn visits his family and informs them of Zara's pregnancy. Aunn's family gets excited, but they fear that Zara might want to keep them away from the baby. Nighat then tells them every thing that has happened and how it was Aunn's fault. Aunn confesses to Zara of his role in creating a rift between her and his family. Zara tells him that he has to confess the same to this family. Nighat tells Jamshed about Zara's pregnancy. In the meantime, Nighat tells Zara that they know what Aunn did to create distances between them. The family is now reconciled, and they live happily ever after.

The theme song (original soundtrack) "Aunn Zara" was composed by MAD Music with the lyrics by Awais Sohail. It was sung by Athar and Ragini. Other background music are also composed by MAD music.

Broadcast and release[]

National and international broadcast[]

The show rebroadcast in Pakistan on ATV (Pakistan) with the title Deewane Do.

Aunn Zara broadcast in India on Zindagi started 23 June 2014.[7] It was for the first time, a series had been broadcast from start to finish within 20 days.[8] In USA, it was broadcast on Zee TV USA in April 2016. In UK, it premiered on Lamhe TV UK in May 2014. [9] In Middle East, the show was broadcast on Zee TV ME.

Digital release[]

The show was made available on ZEE5 as VOD in 2020.[10]
