Rabbi Avishai Chaim David (born 1949) is the Rosh Yeshiva of Yeshivat Torat Shraga (also known as YTS) in Bayit Vegan, Jerusalem, Israel, and the founding rabbi of Beit Medrash Torani Leumi (BMTL) in Beit Shemesh, he is currently the Rabbi of *Kehillas Beis Tefillah Yonah Avraham in Ramat Beit Shemesh. He studied under Rabbi Joseph Soloveitchik for 14 years and received his semicha from RIETS, Yeshiva University, New York City. He is a student of Rabbi Avigdor Nevenzahl. He authored "Dorosh Darash Yosef" a sefer on the weekly parsha based on the shiurim of Rav Yosef Dov Soloveitchik.[1][2]

Students of Rabbi David are taken by the breadth and depth of his Torah knowledge, as well as his knowledge of the arts and sciences. Giving over twenty shiurim in a typical week, Rabbi David inspires students and laypeople alike with his fiery passion for Torah and his charismatic personality. Probably one of the most honest expositors of Rabbi Soloveitchik's teachings, Rabbi David's shiurim often feature ideas and themes from the teachings of Rabbi Soloveitchik, as well as from his other rebbeim, Rabbi Nisson Alpert, Rabbi Tzvi Dov Kanotopsky and Rabbi Aharon Lichtenstein.[3]

Rabbi David lives in Ramat Beit Shemesh, where he is a community-wide posek and the rabbi of a local synagogue catering to American olim. His brother, Rabbi , is one of the most prominent Rabbis at the Mir Yeshiva in Jerusalem.
