AvoDerm is a line of natural dog and cat food manufactured by Breeder's Choice Inc., of Irwindale, California. The company was founded by Harold Taylor in 1947.

The AvoDerm line was launched in 1982 as a specialty food for the alleviation of skin and coat problems in dogs. Eight of the brand's formulas include avocado meal because it contains vitamins A, E, and C, as well as folate, potassium, niacin, and fatty acids.[1] The food is also free of artificial preservatives.

Ingredients[]

Key ingredients in AvoDerm foods are the meats of chicken and lamb. Other ingredients are ground whole brown rice, ground whole rice, oatmeal, rice bran, pea flour, flaxseed, dried alfalfa meal, avocado oil, herring meal, rosemary extract, sage extract, bromelain, papain, dried kelp, and canola oil. The company avoids the use of beef, corn, and wheat except in their original formula, which has beef and wheat as top two ingredients.[2] Some dry formulations contain corn.

AvoDerm offers a vegetarian dog food.
