Basil Gordon James (August 9, 1894 – November 11, 1961) was the mayor of Newport News, Virginia from 1936 to 1940.^[1] He was married to Grace Dickenson.^[2] He was born in Beulahville, Virginia.^[3] He died in Newport News in 1961. His wife died in 1989.
