Revolutionary Activities and Biography[]
His real name was Majitullah. He was a heroic freedom fighter. He was a member of the Chopra Vidhan Sabha in 1977 and 1982. He was the son of a poor peasant family and a partner in many groundbreaking movements. In 1939, he jumped into the militant movement in Dinajpur, present day Bangladesh, against the high interest charged by moneylenders. He distributed food among the afflicted people by breaking the stocks of oppressive landlords Debnath Saha and Trilokya Saha in Bonda area during the terrible famine in 1942. Prominent communist leader Comrade M.A. Rasul pseudonymed him Bachcha Munshi to avoid the attention of the British government. This is the name by which he is known. In 1946, at Nilphamari in Rangpur district, Tebhaga's historic resistance was fought under the leadership of fearless Bachcha Munshi and Narayan Barman. His comrade Narayan Barman was martyred in the firing of zamindars. He fled from East Pakistan as there was a warrant in his name and took shelter at the house of Mr. Kalim in Nahargach village of Daspara, Chopra. The first public meeting of the undivided Communist Party was held on 19 November 1956 at Dhwanirhat. That is where the party flag was hoisted for the first time. It was initiated by Bachcha Munshi and his comrades Golam Rabbani and Samsuddin Saheb. The first party unit of Islampur Municipality was formed in March 1957 at Dhwanirhat area.
