Baku Economic Region

The Baku Economic Region is one of Azerbaijan's 14 economic regions.[1] It's one of the country's main economic centers. It has an area of 2,140 km².

History[]

From 1991 to 2021, Baku was part of the Absheron economic region.

The Baku Economic Region was established by the decree of the President of Azerbaijan dated July 7, 2021, on "The new division of economic regions in the Republic of Azerbaijan".[2]

Development[]

The main emerging industries are oil refining, international trade, engineering, chemicals, food, and textiles.[3]
