Bangabandhu Bangladesh-China Friendship Exhibition Center is an international product exhibition facility located in Dhaka. The facility has been set up in Purbachal near Dhaka metropolis covering an area of 20 acres at a cost of Taka 1303.50 crore. Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the installation on October 21, 2021.[1][2] From 2022, Dhaka International Trade Fair will be held here every year. It was decided to hold the trade fair here on January 1, 2022 and was held.[3][4]

History[]

In 2015, Bangladesh Export Promotion Bureau started the 'Bangladesh-China Friendship Exhibition Center Construction Project'. The project was undertaken with the aim of setting up an international quality product display center in the new city project area. Mohammad Rezaul Karim was the project director. Bangabandhu Bangladesh-China Friendship Exhibition Center has been set up on 24 acres of land on 20 acres of land. The project was implemented by China State Construction Engineering Corporation. The exhibition center has been set up with the aim of organizing export fairs, trade fairs, exporters' conferences, buyer-seller fairs and other trade promotion activities.[5] CSEC started construction of the exhibition centre on Oct 17,  2017. Work was completed on November 30, 2020.[6]

Financing[]

Bangladesh and China have jointly funded this construction project. According to the Public Works Department, the construction of the exhibition center has cost Tk 63 crore. Of this, the Chinese government's grant was Tk 520.63 crore, the Bangladesh government's allocation was Tk 231 crore and EPB provided Tk 21.28 crore from its own funds.[2]

Specifications[]

The floor space of the center is 33 thousand square meters. There is an exhibition hall of 15 thousand 418 square meters. The exhibition center has two separate exhibitions of 2 lakh 69 thousand square feet. Added to this are a 473-seat auditorium, 50-seat conference room and 6 discussion rooms. Other facilities include 500-seat restaurant, children's play area, prayer room, medical booth, guest room, 139 toilets and built-in public address system. The exhibition center has its own water treatment plant. In addition to the store room, CCTV control room, automated central AC system, fire extinguishing system, in-built flag stand, this modern exhibition center has WiFi system for internet, a modern fountain and remote controlled entrance.[7] It has 800 exhibition booths.[8]
