Baranowo [baraˈnɔvɔ] is a village in the administrative district of Gmina Rutka-Tartak, within Suwałki County, Podlaskie Voivodeship, in north-eastern Poland, close to the border with Lithuania.[1] It lies approximately 2 kilometres (1 mi) south of Rutka-Tartak, 27 km (17 mi) north of Suwałki, and 134 km (83 mi) north of the regional capital Białystok.

In 1944, SS troops pacified the village of Baranowo, murdering 19 people[2]
