Beaten Down is a song recorded by American singer-songwriter Sharon Van Etten. Written by Van Etten and produced by Grammy Award-winning producer John Congleton,[2] the song was released on February 5, 2020 via JAGJAGUWAR. It was Van Etten's first single since the release of her 2019 album Remind Me Tomorrow.[3] The song was described as being about "love, patience, and empathy."[4][5]

Music video[]

A music video for the song was released on YouTube. The video was shot in a desert. The video was directed by Nicky and Juliana Giraffe.[6][7]

Reception[]

The song was labeled as "dark" by NME.[3] According to Pitchfork's Andu Cush the song was "obvious and brilliant."[8]
