Beatmania is a music video game and part of the beatmania IIDX series. Designed for the North American market, it was the only beatmania IIDX game released in the region until the arcade release of beatmania IIDX 27 HEROIC VERSE in 2020. It was released by Konami for the PlayStation 2 on February 2006.[1]

Reception[]

Writing for PSX Extreme, Cavin Smith viewed Beatmania as an entry in the Beatmania IIDX series, since it featured similar gameplay revolving around seven keys and a turntable.[2] G4's video game show X-Play gave the game 2/5 stars, declaring that the game was a rip-off of the then-recently released Guitar Hero.[3]
