Belvidere Community Unit School District 100

Belvidere Community Unit School District 100 (BCUSD 100) is a unified school district located in Belvidere, the county seat of Boone County, Illinois. The school district is composed of twelve schools in all, with all schools being located in or near the city limits of Belvidere, with the exception of Caledonia Elementary School in Caledonia, Illinois. There are five elementary schools, one STEM academy, two middle schools, and two high schools. The current superintendent is Dr. Daniel Woestman.[1]

In 2018, 2019, and 2020 the district was recognized as a certified Great Place to Work.[2]

South[]

In south Belvidere, first a student goes to either: Meehan Elementary School, Perry Elementary School or Washington Academy. After graduating, they go into Belvidere South Middle School, then either to Belvidere High School or Everest High School.

Meehan Elementary School serves the city of Belvidere's K-5th Graders. Meehan's principals are Jenny Seykora and Bo Smith[3]

Perry Elementary School also serves the city of Belvidere's K-5th Graders. The principal of Perry is Frank Mandera.[4]

Washington Academy encompasses K-5th. It is a STEM academy. The principal is Christopher Walocha.[5] Washington Academy was recognized in 2017 as a Marzano Level 1 certified school.[6]

Belvidere South Middle School, The older and larger of the two middle schools, is located next to Belvidere High School. The principal of Belvidere South is Ben Commare.[7] The school was recognized in 2017 as a Marzano Level 2 certified school.

Belvidere High School, the first of the two high schools, is headed by Billy Lewis; it encompasses the grades 9-12. This school also contains the Performing Arts Center for Both high schools. [8]

Everest High School covers grades 9-12. It is currently directed by Michael LaScola.

North[]

In north Belvidere or nearby areas, first a student goes to either: Lincoln Elementary School, Seth Whitman Elementary School or Caledonia Elementary School. After graduating, they go into Belvidere Central Middle School, then to Belvidere North High School.

Caledonia Elementary School serves the village of Caledonia's K-5th graders, as well as nearby areas. Its principal is Kelly Cotter[9]

Lincoln Elementary School, serves the city of Belvidere's K-5th Graders. Elizabeth Marchini is principal of Lincoln Elementary.[10] Lincoln was recognized in 2017 as a Marzano Level 1 certified school.

Seth Whitman Elementary School, also serves the city of Belvidere's K-5th Graders, is located directly next to Belvidere North High School. Theresa Lozdoski is the school's principal.[11]

Belvidere Central Middle School, which is located just outside the city proper, serves grades 6th-8th. The principal of Belvidere Central is Brett McPherson. [12] The school was recognized in 2017 as a Marzano Level 1 certified school.

Belvidere North High School covers grades 9-12 and services areas both outside and within the city limits of Belvidere. It is currently directed by James Friesema.[13]

Academic Performance[]

The academic performance of the school district is at or just below the state average.[14]
