Bert de Vries (4 March 1939 – 28 March 2021) was a Dutch-American archeologist and professor.[1]
Born in Zierikzee, the Netherlands he emigrated with his family to the United States in 1952.[2] De Vries taught at Calvin University between 1967 and 2018. He researched and excavated for fifty years in Jordan. De Vries was director of the Umm el-Jimal Project in Jordan. He also worked at other places in Jordan including in Hisban in the 1960s and 1970s and Limes Arabicus in the 1980s.[3][4][5][6]
De Vries died on 28 March 2021, aged 82.[1]
