Bhattanagar is a neighbourhood of West Liluah in Howrah city of Howrah district in West Bengal, India. It is a part of the area covered by Kolkata Metropolitan Development Authority (KMDA).

Bhattanagar is under the jurisdiction of Liluah Police Station of Howrah City Police.[1]

Location[]

Bhattanagar is approximately 2.5 km from Liluah railway station, 7 km from Howrah Station and 8 km from Kolkata. The place is more of rural-based.no hospital is there.

Economy and Education[]

One of the oldest schools of Howrah district, Bhattanagar Kulakamini Vidyamandir, is located here. Other educational institutions include the Don Bosco Self Employment Research Institute. There are only two banks available here - Co-operative Bank and State Bank of India.

Culture and Sports[]

Ramkrishna Sangha Club situated at Mirpara Road is a distinguished club in the town. It was established in the year 1977. The club has a spacious banquet and lodge for wedding ceremonies and holding other events. The club has been organizing the Annual Durga Puja for the last 36 years. It also organizes several cultural programmes and events all through the year. The Annual Sports Meet of the club is held on 23 January to commemorate the birth anniversary of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose.

Surya Sangha, Netaji Sangha, Athletics Club, Arabinda Sangha, Sporting Club and more clubs are famous for their sporting activities. Every year, a general fair (Basanti Puja) is organised at Bhattanagar Football Play Ground situated at the center of the town. Bhattanagar Jogeshwari math is one of the important monasteries of Belur Math.

Bhattanagar has a railway station (Bhattanagar railway station) on its western side. The station is mainly used by Freight trains. (UP and DN) trains stop here from 26 December, 2020. [2] To avail Local Train, one has to go to Liluah railway station, which is approx 2.5 km from the town.
