BloombergQuint is an Indian business and financial news organization of a joint venture of Bloomberg News and Quintillion Media.[2][3] Its main content is based on the Indian economy, international finance, corporate law & governance and business news. Within six months of going live, the web portal received one million monthly users, and there are plans to open a free-to-air TV channel.[4][5] In July 2017, digital video analytics provider, Vidooly rated BloombergQuint as the ninth most popular news brand among new-age news publishers.[6] In September 2017, BloombergQuint launched its digital live streaming service available on their website (www.bloombergquint.com), the Bloomberg Terminal and BloombergQuint social platforms.[7][8][9] The service includes daily live programming from both global and local markets. BloombergQuint later launched a WhatsApp service for decision makers and executives on the go, in November 2017.[10][11][12][13] It is a first of its kind offering in the business space which connects subscribers to BloombergQuint’s daily coverage of global and domestic business news, market movements and views from the country’s influential corporate leaders. BloombergQuint also announced a partnership with Nasscom, T-Hub and the Govt. of Karnataka to launch 'ScaleUP', a new initiative designed to help emerging companies and start-ups scale for growth in November 2017.[14]

History[]

Raghav Bahl, the founder and former managing director of Network 18,[15] set up Quintillion Media along with his wife Ritu Kapur[16] within six months of his controversial exit from Network18 in July 2014.[17] Later, he signed a joint venture with Bloomberg L.P. to launch a digital product – BloombergQuint and a TV channel. According to the deal, Raghav Bahl will own 74% stake and Bloomberg the remaining 26%; the pact is for a 10-year period, as reported by Livemint.[18] NASSCOM , T-Hub and Government of Karnataka partnered with BloombergQuint to launch ScaleUp an initiative to help emerging companies and start-ups scale for growth. Dr. Somdutta Singh, Co-Chair of NASSCOM Product Council is the Chief Strategic Advisor for ScaleUp.[19]

TV channel[]

After a prolonged delay to acquire a licence directly from Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (India). In 2017, it acquired licence of Y TV from Horizon Satellite Services Private Limited and applied for a name change of the licence to BloombergQuint in the Ministry.[20] Till 20 May 2021, Ministry has not considered any application of BloombergQuint.[21]
