"Breathe Deeper" is a song by Australian psychedelic music project Tame Impala. It is the fifth track on the 2020 album The Slow Rush, and was released as its fifth single on February 14, 2020. The song was written by Kevin Parker, who also performed all the instruments and vocals.

The single reached number two on the Billboard Hot Rock Songs chart, becoming Tame Impala's first single to be in the top three position of that chart in the United States.[5] It also peaked at number nine on the New Zealand Music Chart,[6] number 51 on Irish Singles Chart,[7] number 55 on ARIA Singles Chart,[8] and number 59 on the UK Singles Chart.[9]

On October 6 2021, Tame Impala released a remix of the song and accompanying music video with rapper Lil Yachty.[10]

Background[]

Before the release, the track was teased in Q magazine.[11] Parker was influenced by several musicians making this song, including Mariah Carey, The Neptunes and Pharrell Williams.[11]

Reception[]

Writing for NME, Thomas Smith wrote, "[This song] flits between ravey pianos and '80s Fleetwood Mac." He also wrote that the last 90 seconds of the song sounded a little reminiscent of the French electronic music duo Daft Punk's "Da Funk".[12]
