She originated the role of Young Elsa in Frozen: The Broadway Musical. She made her film debut as the voice of Nazuna Oikawa in the English dub of Fireworks. In 2018, she made her screen debut as the title character in Megan's Christmas Miracle.

Early life[]

Nelson is from Huntington, West Virginia, to Tara and Todd Nelson. She has a younger sister named Lacey. She studied acting, singing, and dancing at First Stage Theatre, the Huntington Area Regional Theater, and Curtain Up Players. She performed in many local productions, such as The Little Mermaid Jr. and Once on This Island Jr. Nelson attended Barboursville Middle School.[3][1]

Career[]

In September 2015, at the age of 11, Nelson began a 16-month run in Matilda the Musical, where she was a swing, shifting between the roles of Lavender and Amanda Thripp. She eventually moved fully onto the role of Amanda.[1][4][5] She then originated the role of Young Elsa in Disney's Frozen, adapted from the 2013 film of the same name, sharing it with Ayla Schwartz. She first played the role in the Denver tryout in 2017 and then on Broadway in early 2018.[4][6] Nelson enjoyed playing the role: "it is such an honor to originate and play this role. ... I love being able to show all of the emotions".[3] She left the cast at the end of April 2018.[5]

Nelson voiced Nazuna Oikawa in the English dub of Fireworks,[7] released on August 18, 2017, in Japan,[8] on October 17, 2017, in the United Kingdom[9] and on July 3, 2018, in the United States.[10] Additionally, Nelson voiced Medmel in the English dub of Maquia: When the Promised Flower Blooms.[11] Nelson appeared as the titular character in Megan's Christmas Miracle.[12] The film received a negative review from Box Office Revolution, criticising the acting, writing that "lines are half-heartedly delivered and emotions are flippant".[13]
