Buddleja 'Podaras13', selling name Flutterby Petite Tutti Fruitti Pink, is one of the 'Flutterby Petite'™ series of sterile hybrid cultivars that Peter Podaras raised while at Cornell University, Ithaca, New York, and that Cornell patented in 2011. Flutterby Petite Tutti Fruitti Pink was derived from the crossing (B. davidii × B. alternifolia) × B. davidii.[1]

Description[]

Flutterby Petite Tutti Fruitti Pink makes a small shrub with an upward, spreading habit, growing to a maximum of 0.75 × 0.75 m, with dense compound terminal and axillary conical panicles about 10.5 cm long by 3.5 cm wide, comprising around 280 scentless purple-violet flowers. The flowers emerge in spring and persist until the first frosts of the fall in California. The opposite, elliptical leaves are about 4.8 cm long by 1.7 cm wide, smooth, glabrous above and lanulose below.[1][2]

Flutterby Petite Tutti Fruitti Pink was introduced to Europe by Plantipp, The Netherlands, in 2012 by Plantipp, Netherlands, as one of their Free Petite™ series.[3] In the United Kingdom, a specimen is grown as part of the National Council for the Conservation of Plants and Gardens (NCCPG)'s National Plant Collection at the Longstock Park Nursery near Stockbridge, Hampshire.[4] The shrub is reputedly hardy to - 29° C.[2]
