Bulgarian Land
The Bulgarian land (Bulgarian: Българско землище) is a term dating back to the time of the Bulgarian Revival and more precisely to the time after the Spring of Nations with the subsequent Greco-Bulgarian Schism.[1] At that time the lands with the predominantly Bulgarian population coinciding with the ancient provinces of Moesia, Thracia and Macedonia. Historically, the so-called Balkan language union served as a linguistic marker for Eastern South Slavic area called then Bulgarian lands. There are other universal markers on the basis of which one can historically judge the Bulgarian presence - for example, the "wolf tooth" cornice in medieval architecture.[2][3]
