Bull is a 2021 British revenge thriller film written and directed by Paul Andrew Williams. The film stars Neil Maskell as the titular character seeking revenge on his former gang associates and father-in-law to get his son.

Premise[]

Bull is a former gang enforcer that ended up on the wrong side of a dispute with his boss and father-in-law when he tried to take custody of his son from his drug-addict wife. After an attempt on his life and being left for dead, Bull goes into exile for 10 years before returning to get revenge and get his son back.

Bull was written and directed by Paul Andrew Williams and set up the launch of Giant Productions for producer Dominic Tighe.[1]

Bull has its world premier at the Fantasia Film Festival in Montreal on 6 August 2021[2][3] and then screened at the BFI London Film Festival before wider release in the United Kingdom on 5 November 2021.[4] At the 2021 American Film Market, Saban Films picked up the North American distribution rights, planning for release in the second quarter of 2022.[5]

Reception[]

On review aggregation website Rotten Tomatoes, the film holds an approval rating of 100% based on 20 reviews, with an average rating of 7.40/10.[6] Metacritic, which uses a weighted average, assigned the film a score of 71 out of 100 based on 6 critics, indicating "generally favorable reviews."[7] Ian Freer of Empire wrote, "Paul Andrew Williams and Neil Maskell breathe new life into a familiar one-man-army scenario."[8]
