Business Environment Council (BEC) (Chinese: 商界環保協會) is a charitable non-profit-making organization established by the Hong Kong business sector to promote environmental sustainability in Hong Kong. BEC has four types of membership, including Council Member, Corporate Member, General Member and Affiliate Member, and most of them are listed companies in Hong Kong. Its current chairman is Mr Richard Lancaster, the CEO of CLP Group.[1] The Headquarters of BEC is located at 77 Tat Chee Ave, Kowloon Tong, . It attained the BEAM Plus Platinum Rating for Existing Buildings, the highest achievable green building rating in Hong Kong in October 2017.

Our core focuses and services are interconnected and cross-sector focused. Our core offering encompasses baseline assessment, advisory, research and policy advocacy via our diversified member-driven committees, training, conferences, leadership engagements, case studies, award and industry support programmes. The common goal of all these is to attain the greatest possible chance at achieving environmental excellence and sustainability across business and industry as a whole.

Major Programmes[]

EnviroSeries Conference

Staged twice a year, EnviroSeries Conference is BEC's flagship event that aims to provide a cross-sector forum for stakeholders to discuss and address key issues related to Hong Kong's environmental sustainability.

BEC Sustainable Consumption Programme

The programme is organised by BEC and funded by the Sustainable Development Fund, aiming to promote sustainable consumption and drive behavioural changes in Hong Kong.
