Byredo is a Swedish company, producing fragrances, leather goods and accessories made in Sweden.[1] Byredo is a portmanteau of "By Redolence".[2] It was founded in Stockholm in 2006 by Ben Gorham.[3]
The brand is expanding into leather goods and accessories,[4][5] and the first collection of handbags and small leather goods debuted at Paris Fashion Week in September 2017.[6]
History[]
In 2013 Gorham sold a majority stake of the company to London-based investment firm Manzanita Capital,[2][7] which has invested in Diptyque and ,[8] and owns Space NK.[2]
Collaborations[]
Perfumer Jérôme Epinette has created scents for the brand.[8] Byredo collaborated with photographers Inez and Vinoodh on its 1996 Inez & Vinoodh fragrance.[9][10]
Byredo collaborated with IKEA on a home fragrance expected to launch in 2019.[11][12] This materialised as the OSYNLIG candle collection, released 1 November 2020. [13] It also launched the fragrance Space Rage in partnership with the singer Travis Scott.[14]
Recognition[]
Forbes magazine named Byredo Super Cedar among the best scents launched in 2016.[15]
