Byun Jang-ho (born April 27, 1940) is a South Korean film director. Byun made about 90 films in a career that spans more than 30 years. His film Love Me Once Again Despite Hatred '80 (1980) is the greatest box office hits in 1980.[2][3]

His film Potato (1988) is a remake of a 1967 film and the second adaptation of Kim Dong-in's short novel of the same name. It won Best Supporting Actor, Best Supporting Actress, Best Screenplay and Best Music at the 26th Grand Bell Awards in 1987.[4]

  1. ^ Byun Jang-ho's birthdate: movie.naver.com [1] gave the 1940 date in the introduction, but the text said he was born in 1935. Two articles said he was born in 1939 [2][3]. However, Daum agrees with the 1940 birthdate [4]. All the news articles from when he was named to the National Academy of Arts in 2012 agree that he was 72 at the time [5][6]. Similarly he won an art award from Goyang City in 2007 and the article said he was 67 at the time [7]. It seemed the 1940 date is more likely to be correct. Researched by User 58.176.246.42.
