CMT Top 12 Countdown was a music video show that aired on Country Music Television (CMT) that debuted in 1993 as the CMT Top 10 Countdown, then in October 1994, it expanded to 12 videos with features such as pick hits, breakout videos and sneak peeks to emerging and upcoming artists. In 1996, the countdown expanded again featuring a few more extras, and in December 2001 the show became the longer Top 20 Countdown. Each episode would countdown the top 12 music videos of the week. At the end of each year, CMT would broadcast the Top 12 Countdown of the Year and present awards to artists for their music video achievements.
