CSTVT, formerly known as Castevet, was an American emo band from Chicago, Illinois. The band was founded in early 2007 by vocalist and bassist Ron Petzke, vocalist and guitarist Nick Wakim, guitarist Will McEvilly and drummer Josh Snader; the line-up remained intact until their demise in 2013. In December 2010, the band changed the spelling of its name from Castevet to CSTVT, though the pronunciation remained the same.

History[]

CSTVT formed in 2007 under the name Castevet, and began playing shows in 2008. In 2009, they signed to Count Your Lucky Stars Records and, in the same year, released their debut full-length album, titled Summer Fences.[1] CSTVT's influences include Hot Water Music, Saves the Day, Braid, Texas Is the Reason, Jawbreaker, American Football, and The Promise Ring.[2]

On August 10, 2010, Castevet released a split with Into It. Over It. via Topshelf Records.[3][4][5] On August 17, 2010, Castevet released their second full-length album titled The Echo & The Light via Tiny Engines.[6][7][8] The album had previously been released as a six-song extended play in 2009 but the band re-recorded them, added two new songs, and re-released it as a full-length album.[9][8]

On December 25, 2010, Castevet announced they were changing their band name to CSTVT. They also announced plans to release a 7" with Run For Cover Records, which was released in January 2011.[10][11]

In 2020, the song "Between Berwyn and Bryn Mawr" was listed by Vulture.com as number 80 of the 100 greatest emo songs.[12]
