Early life[]

Robinson grew up in Mansfield, Nottinghamshire, England. He was educated at High Oakham Primary School and The Brunts Academy, before attending West Nottinghamshire College.[3]

Career[]

In May 2018, Robinson sought election to Camden Council where he stood in the ward of Swiss Cottage for the Conservative Party. He finished in 6th place out of 16 candidates.[citation needed]

Robinson was the Brexit Party candidate in Broxtowe in 2019, but dropped out to support the Conservative candidate.[4]

In July 2021, Robinson appeared in an interview on Channel 4 News with the singer and left-wing political activist Billy Bragg.[5] In the interview, Bragg challenged Robinson's claims that he was a supporter of the England team's unifying effect on the country by asking his opinion on the England team 'taking the knee' before matches. Robinson argued that taking the knee was "a disgusting thing to do" and that the team was not "taking a stance against racism" and was, instead, promoting "Black Lives Matter, a neo-Marxist, anti-British, anti-family organisation". The England manager, Gareth Southgate, had earlier stated that the team had adopted the gesture to make a stand against racism.[6] Robinson accused Southgate of "jumping on a bandwagon" and said that he needed to "learn the lesson that fans were not interested in politics on the field".[7]
