Carlos Hoenen was a German photographer who lived in Brazil during the 19th century. He kept an atelier of photography in São Paulo called Photographia Allemã (German Photography). Inaugurated in 1875, he was the sole owner for 10 years. In 1885, he sold the atelier to Rodolpho Neuhaus. He was also sold photographic products and equipment, having an important role in the diffusion of photography in the province of São Paulo, and he also gave classes to photographers or aspiring photographers from the countryside who sought him out in his establishment.[1][2][3]
