Carlos Revilla González (22 January 1933 – 28 September 2000) was a Spanish voice actor and voice director best known for his role as Homer Simpson, KITT , and Dr. Robotnik in the Spanish version of Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog and The Simpsons. He also worked in the Spaniard version of Futurama, being the director of Spaniard dubbing and played secondary tiny roles in the episodes.

Biography[]

Born in Salamanca, Castile and León, Revilla left his medical studies at the age of 20 to become a radio actor on Cadena SER and later moved into dubbing of American films into Spanish. He dubbed the voices of actors such as Walter Matthau, Charlton Heston, Jack Lemmon and Bill Cosby and was the voice of KITT on Knight Rider in Spain. He worked on the first eleven seasons of The Simpsons, directing the entire dubbing process in addition to voicing Homer in european spanish.[1]

Role in The Simpsons[]

Without a doubt, his most important role was that of Homer Simpson , a character he played for eleven uninterrupted years, endowing him with a special charm, far from the one played by Dan Castellaneta, but close to the Spanish audiences, which made the series a leader in audience during the eleven years that Revilla worked on it. Carlos was also the dubbing director, in charge of choosing the cast and adapting the dialogues from a marked American humor to Spanish humor. After his death, the Spanish dubbing of The Simpsons remained with his guidelines, although his role was assumed by another actor. The casting chosen by Revilla were honoured by Fox Broadcasting Company, original creators of The Simpsons, who said that the Spanish dub of the show was the best in Europe.[2]

Death[]

Revilla died of a heart attack in Madrid on 28 September 2000 at the age of 67.[3] The Spanish voice of Homer Simpson was passed on to , who continues nowadays with the role.
