Carnival Motion Pictures Private Limited[1] (formally known as AOPL Entertainment Private Limited) is an Indian film production and distribution company established in 2011. It acts as a subsidiary of its parent company Carnival Group, a diversified corporate group with interests in multiplex, media, entertainment, hospitality and real estate, and has set up headquarters base at Mumbai in India.[2]

History[]

Carnival Motion Pictures was established in 2011 by Shrikant Bhasi,[3] who currently serves as the chair of Carnival Group.[2] It forayed into film production in 2011 with Violin, a Malayalam musical romance film starring Asif Ali and Nithya Menon. Carnival Motion Pictures have produced many films in Malayalam like Second Show in 2012, which was an action crime film starring Dulquer Salmaan and Gauthami Nair, Matinee (2012) starring Maqbool Salmaan and Mythilli.[2] Its subsequent productions included Sreejith Sukumaran's Hangover, the comedy horror Adi Kapyare Kootamani, Mudhugauv,[4] and Edakkad Battalion 06 with Tovino Thomas and Samyuktha Menon in lead roles.[5]

In 2013, Carnival Motion Pictures ventured into Bollywood by producing War Chhod Na Yaar, starring Sharman Joshi, Soha Ali Khan and Javed Jaffrey. The movie was released on 11 October 2013.[6]

Carnival Motion Pictures in 2017, made a comeback in Bollywood by producing a biography on Sachin Tendulkar titled 'Sachin: A Bullion Dreams'. Sachin Tendulkar himself starred in this movie and also gave a narration in the film.[2] It follows Tendulkar's cricket and personal life in substantial detail, as well as reveals a few aspects of his life which have never been heard of or seen before.[7] The film was declared tax free in Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, Karnataka, Kerala, and Odisha[8] and in 2018 was awarded two awards at the Tehran International FICTS Fest.[9]

In January 2019, they released ‘Thackeray’ based on the life of Shiv Sena leader, Balasaheb Thackeray. Nawazuddin Siddiqui played the lead. Bal Thackeray.[10]

In the same year, 3 May, they released Blank starring Sunny Deol and Karan Kapadia, son of former Indian actress Simple Kapadia.[2][11]

In 2020 Carnival Motion Pictures announced its upcoming patriotic-family drama, Mere Desh Ki Dharti, with actor Divyenndu, Anupriya Goenka and Anant Vidhaat.[12]
